{"id":186,"date":"2006-08-07T08:02:55","date_gmt":"2006-08-07T15:02:55","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/jillcook.com\/blog\/?p=186"},"modified":"2006-08-07T08:02:55","modified_gmt":"2006-08-07T15:02:55","slug":"mission-theatre-and-sausages","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/jillcook.com\/blog\/2006\/08\/07\/mission-theatre-and-sausages\/","title":{"rendered":"Mission Theatre and Sausages"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>A.J. and I discovered a few fun new places while we vacationed in Portland, OR this past weekend.<\/p>\n<p>The first was a unique movie theatre, the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.mcmenaminspubs.com\/index.php?loc=72&amp;id=168\" target=\"_blank\">Mission Theatre and Pub<\/a> &#8211; an old church that has now been converted into a movie theatre with tables set up on the main floor and installed in the balcony to help manage the array of pub fare offered at the concession stand.&nbsp; I highly recommend the nachoes &#8211; fantastic!&nbsp; Take a look at the photo gallery (at the link above).&nbsp; They show all sorts of films &#8211; mainstream, arthouse, cult classics, area independent films&#8230; and Buffy episodes!!&nbsp; But those are only on Monday nights so we didn&#8217;t get to attend. \ud83d\ude41<\/p>\n<p>We also ate at Good Dog\/Bad Dog, a sausage and bratwurst establishment in downtown Portland on Alder St.&nbsp; It was a yummy discovery and we had 2 different meals there. \ud83d\ude42&nbsp; I liked the &quot;Bratwurst&quot; the best, I found the &quot;Oregon Smokey&quot; to be good as well, but a bit too spicy for me.<\/p>\n<p>Overall, the trip was great with perfect weather and fun times.&nbsp; We also stopped off at <a href=\"http:\/\/www.powells.com\/\" target=\"_blank\">Powells Books<\/a>, Nordstrom Rack, Thai Peacock, the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.portlandsaturdaymarket.com\/\" target=\"_blank\">Portland Saturday Market<\/a>, <a href=\"http:\/\/www.peets.com\" target=\"_blank\">Peet&#8217;s Coffee and Tea<\/a> and <a href=\"http:\/\/www.westinportland.com\/dailygrill\/\" target=\"_blank\">The Daily Grill<\/a> in our walks around the city and by the riverfront.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>A.J. and I discovered a few fun new places while we vacationed in Portland, OR this past weekend.
