{"id":153,"date":"2006-03-04T21:08:38","date_gmt":"2006-03-05T04:08:38","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/jillcook.com\/blog\/?p=153"},"modified":"2006-03-05T12:55:06","modified_gmt":"2006-03-05T19:55:06","slug":"week-at-a-glance","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/jillcook.com\/blog\/2006\/03\/04\/week-at-a-glance\/","title":{"rendered":"Week At A Glance"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>So let&#8217;s take a look at what I have coming up this week&#8230;<\/p>\n<p><strong>Sunday &#8211;&nbsp;<\/strong> No major plans. \ud83d\ude42 I love that.&nbsp; A.J. and I will probably spend a few hours up at the Hartford Coffee Co (my new favorite hangout) and try to get a little bit of work done.&nbsp; Other than that, maybe we&#8217;ll go for a walk \/ play some Killer Bunnies \/ catch up on some TV watching \/ or whatever else comes to mind.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Monday &#8211;<\/strong> I have class today, but only from 9-12.&nbsp; I am taking a &quot;Capstone&quot; course in Academic Medicine and Research so I can learn the basics of this area.&nbsp; I am seriously considering doing a fellowship after residency (to specialize in an as-yet-undecided field) and a LOT of fellowship is doing research, so I&#8217;ll need to know about it.&nbsp; This course also has a lot of information about medical education &#8211; specifically how to effectively teach and give feedback.&nbsp; Plus there are some joint lectures with the other capstones (medical education, surgical specialities, primary care) where we learn about general things like malpractice, professionalism, finanacial planning, and such.&nbsp; I have a few hours of lecture each day and most afternoons off and it&#8217;s been nice.&nbsp; I am learning a lot, too, and it&#8217;s all very interesting.&nbsp; Oh, and tonight will probably be Star Trek night with Jill2, so I&#8217;ll have to figure out what we&#8217;ll have for dinner&#8230;<\/p>\n<p><strong>Tuesday &#8211;<\/strong> So, class today as well, and hopefully a game night with Neighbor Girl (so we can teach her Killer Bunnies).&nbsp; Not much else.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Wednesday &#8211;<\/strong> I&#8217;ll go to an hour of lecture this morning, then I&#8217;m helping out with a tobacco prevention program called &quot;Beat the Smokin&#8217; Rap&quot; over at Cardinal Glennon Children&#8217;s Hospital.&nbsp; It&#8217;s geared for 6th graders and we teach them about the dangers of tobacco use, how to &quot;just say no&quot;, some tips on how to quit (if they&#8217;ve already started), and then some media literacy components &#8211; so they can recognize how the tobacco industry is trying to get them hooked.&nbsp; This is for my project that fulfills the last part of my Distinction in Community Service that I will receive when I graduate.&nbsp; Once that&#8217;s over, I have an Admissions Committee meeting to review the next set of applications for SLU Med.&nbsp; And hopefully I&#8217;ll be able to get a manicure (and a pedicure) tonight as well &#8211; I want fresh cute pink toenails to match my dress at Brasten and Jessica&#8217;s wedding!&nbsp; Oh, and tonight is a dinner to honor the recipients of the Distinction in Community Service, so I have that to attend as well.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Thursday &#8211;<\/strong> Again with the lectures today. \ud83d\ude42 And then home and some packing and A.J. and I will set off for Seattle (maybe in first class if we get the upgrade!)<\/p>\n<p><strong>Friday &#8211;<\/strong> I&#8217;m not sure what all is going on today&#8230; but I know the rehersal and rehersal dinner (at Outback, yummy!) are tonight.&nbsp; I&#8217;ll probably get in a workout at Curves and I don&#8217;t know what else&#8230;<\/p>\n<p><strong>Saturday &#8211;<\/strong> Again I don&#8217;t know specific plans&#8230; but the wedding is tonight and I am excited!&nbsp; <\/p>\n<p>So, a little glimpse into my life at the moment.
