View from my desk

This is the view from my desk at the Polyclinic Pediatrics, on the top (16th) floor of the Nordstrom tower on the campus of Swedish Hospital:

That tennis court beckons to me daily!

A Day at the Beach

We went down to Alki today for the SEAFAIR Pirates Landing and stayed to watch the pole vaulting competition. Pole vaulting just looks physically impossible, yet there they are doing it mere feet from me!

Potato Harvest!

A.J. planted potatoes in our tiny patch of a garden awhile back, and they came due for harvest this week. Here’s what we gathered:

A pretty good collection for the small space available. I think it’s mashed potatoes for dinner tonight!

Sisters

Heather and I both showed up to the Hi-Yu White Rose Reception wearing cute yellow outfits without any pre-planning. 🙂

Hannah & Me

I had a play-date with my niece, Hannah, yesterday and we had a gorgeous Seattle summer day for it. We picnicked in the park, kicked a ball around, played catch, watched the clouds drift by, went to the beach, played Beamo (big frisbee), and hung out at my house… Quite a full day!

Raw Corn

This is “Raw Corn”, an accordion-guitar duo that was playing down at the Ballard Market today. They were really fun to listen to and I even bought one of their CDs… They sing everything from “Ring of Fire” to “Smells Like Teen Spirit”.

Portland Never Disappoints

A.J. and I often head away from Seattle for weekend trips, and Portland, OR is one of our favorite destinations. We have nearly always run into some kind of festival or gathering while here (impromptu bike parades, a gathering of Santas, etc) and we weren’t let down this time. On Saturday evening as we walked back to our hotel, the police were shutting down roads for the “Dyke March” and then today we found ourselves immersed in the Portland Pride Festival. Needless to say, Rainbow Bear had a blast!
