A relaxing morning out on the deck with a bit of breakfast and the morning paper. Later today it’s more disc golf and maybe some Killer Bunnies!

Game On!
Watch out Jill! PAC-Man is about to get you!
We went to the “Game On” exhibit at the Queensland Library last weekend. It had working displays of nearly every gaming system since the very beginning. We’re talking before Pong, even. The only notable exception was Coleco-vision, which was from A.J.’s childhood years.
They had all sorts of older games (we played a few levels of Bubble Bobble!) and lots of newer systems. There was an arrangement of 4 HD screens and 4 systems set-up for the multi-player Halo game, and the graphics were amazing! They also had Dance Dance Revolution and a Wii, which was set up with bowling.
It was a pretty amazing variety of games, all of which were working! There were also hand drawn animations of characters, architecture of simulated buildings, promotional materials, and some thoughtful discussions on game displays. We really enjoyed it!

Obama Blend
A new coffee blend is now offered at a specialty shop in Brisbane called Campos, and I got to see a package when a colleague brought it into work today.
It is described as follows:
“Great depth of character, strong, and eloquent. This very appealing blend unites coffees from Africa and the Americas to produce a cup which has gotten us excited. Formidable middle palate flavours, syrupy with an uplifting finish. Excellent choice for going forward and ideal for those looking for a change.”

More Work
This is the Ellen Barron Family Center in Brisbane where I’ve spent some of my time during my elective here. It’s a facility where parents with young children can go to stay if they’re having difficulties with things like feeding, settling/sleeping, or discipline. It’s quite an impressive facility with such a unique spectrum of services that doesn’t really have an equivalent (that I’ve heard of) in the US.
